Jack Oliver Athlete Ambassador
Have you always been into sport?
I've not no, I'm a relative late-comer to the sport and only started about 3 years ago.
How did you first get into triathlon?
It was a challenge from a friend to do one and since then I've been hooked.
What has been your favourite race to date and why?
The best race I've done was the Helvellyn Triathlon. The route takes you around some of the most amazing parts of the Lake District including riding up The Struggle and climbing to the top of Helvellyn.
What is your proudest achievement?
Just finishing! That's when you know everything has come together as it should have done, the training has paid off and the race went as well as it could.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
I once forgot my front wheel and had to race back to get it. I barely made it to the start.
How do you overcome setbacks?
By staying positive, taking small steps forward and if i need to taking a step back and reminding myself why I do it.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Enjoy it! Have fun; you're going to learn so much about yourself and the sport but to start with just have fun and enjoy it.
What are your goals?
Next year I'd like to qualify for the GB Age Group team and compete the Lake District treble - swim the length of Derwent water, ride the Fred Whitton, and run the Bob Graham all continuously.
Who inspires you?
The normal person who has a family, a job and other commitments but finds the motivation and passion to get out and train and still manages to smash their goals and do amazing things whilst balancing all the other things that life throws at them.
Why work with Sundried?
Sundried is a great brand, I've been using the kit for a while and highly rate it. It's great to be working with a brand that is as psyched about triathlon as me.
