Stuart is a cyclist who has been in the game for many years. He talks to Sundried about training and racing.
Have you always been into sport?
Yes, I've been into sport since a young age. I played golf full-time in my early 20s and I've been into road cycling for the last 10 years.
What made you decide to enter the world of triathlon?
I've always been fascinated by the three disciplines combined.
What’s been your favourite race to date and why?
Warwick Half Marathon. I trained well and ran a good race. I was also happy with the Birmingham Velo in 2019.
And your proudest achievement?
Winning back-to-back club championships back in 2000 and 2001.
Have you ever had any racing disasters/your toughest race yet?
In 2017, I rode a sportive in Lichfield with no training; I went straight in. I pushed my body to the limit and it hurt a lot but I completed the course.
How do you overcome setbacks?
Try to remain positive at all times.
What advice do you wish you'd been given before you started competing?
Get the right equipment.
What are your goals?
To increase my average speed and milage.
Who do you take your inspiration from?
I love professional cycling.
