Ian Redmond - Athlete Ambassador

Have you always been into sport?

Yes I have always been at the sport cycling since a young age. I took a break for a few years but I got back at it in 2019 and I'm enjoying it more then ever.

How did you first get into triathlon?

I have never done anything triathlons. I mainly compete in road cycle races. 

If you are interested in getting into cycling, Sundried's kit is suitable for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. We have both men's and women's options available. 

What has been your favourite race to date and why?

Last year after coming back into the sport, I attacked from the line with another rider. We were away all day up the road and I managed to get second and get upgraded to Cat 3.

What is your proudest achievement?

Winning my local summer league. I was a cat 3 cyclist and I started with the cat 1/2s for training purposes and each week I was getting in the top 3 and won the overall league by 11 points.

Have you ever had any racing disasters?

I've had a few crashes but nothing that bad.

How do you overcome setbacks?

If you have a bad day on the bike just put it down to a bad day and leave it behind.

What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?

I wish I had a coach or a mentor when I was younger as who knows, I might have done a lot better in the underage/junior ranks.

What are your goals?

Just to enjoy the sport as much as possible and any goal after that is a bonus.

Who inspires you?

I have always looked up to Nicolas Roche (an Irish professional road bicycle racer who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team DSM.)
