Have you always been into sport?

Yes, I started football and cross-country when I was five years old and kept trying more sports as I got older.

What made you decide to enter the world of triathlon?

I had done a lot of cross-country, surf life saving and swimming previously and decided to give triathlon a go. I did my first triathlon when I was 7; it ended up being in thunder, lightning and rain and I loved it! As the years went on, my passion for it grew and my focus switched from cross-country to triathlon.

What’s been your favourite race to date and why?

My favourite race to date is Hever Castle Triathlon 2017. I just missed out on the podium but racing around the gardens was amazing.

And your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement is finishing 2nd in the National (Modern) Biathlon Championships.

Have you ever had any racing disasters/your toughest race yet?

My biggest disaster and toughest race happened last weekend. I was leading the field with a pack of four when somebody rode into my front wheel, pulling on the brakes for the remaining 5km. It was tough on my legs for the hilly run and the temperature was 31° which made it even harder.

How do you overcome setbacks?

I remember what I've achieved before the setback and have to get back up again and try to come back stronger.

What advice do you wish you'd been given before you started competing?

I wish I was told to join a cycling club when I was younger. I joined a local cycle club about six months ago and my skills and time on the bike have improved a lot, helping me out massively in triathlon.

What are your goals for 2019?

My main goal is to qualify for and finish top 10 in the National Triathlon Championships.

Who do you take your inspiration from?

I take inspiration from the Brownlee Brothers. In the 2012 Olympic Games I watched them race and was blown away by their determination and speed.

What do you like about Sundried and what’s your favourite bit of our kit?

I like the fact that Sundried is environmentally friendly and ethically minded. I think that as a brand it stands out against all others. My favourite Sundried kit is the Cadence Cycling Jersey as I like the colours and patterns on it and it makes cycling a lot comfier.
