Lilia Baranovska Athlete Ambassador
Lilia is a Ukranian triathlete who aspires to compete at a world level. She talks to Sundried about training and racing.
Have you always been into sport?
At the age of 11 I went swimming. This age can be considered as the beginning of my sports career.
How did you first get into triathlon?
Perhaps it was the 2019 race, the Olympic Distance Ukranian Championship. I like challenging bike trails and heat, both of which were at this race, and as a result I took second place.
What is your proudest achievement?
My biggest achievement was 3rd place at the ETU Middle Distance Triathlon European Championship 2019 in Romania.
Have you ever had any racing disasters?
Yes! I forgot my cycling shoes for the ETU Middle Distance Triathlon European Championship 2019 and I had to use others. Because of this, I did not do the bike stage well.
How do you overcome setbacks?
We need to set goals, live the dream and understand that every failure helps us become stronger.
What advice do you wish you'd been given when you first started out?
Take your time, do everything gradually and strengthen your body.
What are your goals?
To be on the podium of the World and European Championships in long distance triathlon and enter the top 20 world elite of long distance triathlon.
Who inspires you?
I am inspired by successful people who have achieved a lot in their professional careers. It doesn't have to be a sports person. For me it is Edgar Kaminsky plastic surgeon and Nazar Mikhailyuk dentist.
Why work with Sundried?
Sundried allows me to wear high-quality and technical sports apparel.
