Awaiz Farid Personal Trainer
Awaiz is a personal trainer based in London who takes great pride in delivering the best possible results for his clients. He tells Sundried about how a car accident leading to massive weight gain sparked him to start his journey into fitness.
Please tell us about sporting events you have taken part in or have coming up.
When I was in university I played first class cricket and also participated in powerlifting competitions, last time I competed in 2013 Greater London Powerlifting Championship. Over the years my popularity as a trainer has increased and due to a very busy schedule helping other people to achieve their fitness goals, it's quite difficult for me to participate in any sporting event at the moment!
Tell us about your journey to fitness? Where did it all start?
My fitness journey started at a very young age when I saw my dad lifting weights. He introduced me to the free weights and showed me how to do the bench press, and since that day I've always enjoyed lifting weights.
Tell us one unusual fact we wouldn’t know about you:
One unusual fact no one knows about me is that some years ago I had a car accident and hurt my shoulder really badly and it was a really depressing time for me. I couldn't train for a whole year and put on 20kg in weight. But one day I thought "I have to change this." I started my fitness journey from scratch and not only got into the best shape of my life but that's also when I decided to become a personal trainer and help other people as well.
What are your training goals now?
Right now my training goals are to improve my muscularity and keep my body fat low. I also experiment with a lot of different training methods and research so I can help my clients achieve their fitness goals. I believe my future will be very bright and I'll be recognised as one of the best personal trainers not only in the UK but also internationally.
Do you follow a specific nutrition plan? If so, what/when do you eat?
I try to eat a very healthy diet comprised of lean proteins, complex carbs, good fats, fruits and vegetables. I also eat cheat meals sometimes.
What do you do to keep your clients motivated?
I motivate my clients by employing different techniques and methods, I motivate them reminding them why they started and what they wanted to achieve. It varies from client to client, it may be someone getting married, or a new mum wanting to get into shape, an office worker trying to improve his/her performance or someone recovering from an injury and wants to be fit and healthy again.
Talk us through your training regime.
I follow weight training split routines and I also practice marshal arts.
How do you keep your fitness knowledge up to date?
I experiment a lot to find what works and what doesn't. I read and research a lot about health and fitness.
If you could only do one workout for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This is a tough question, I have many exercises which I want to do for the rest of my life. But if I had to pick one it would be double crunches.
